Arne Heise, Sebastian Thieme – University Governance and Heterodox Economics – Mapping an Academic Field of Power in Germany

Abstract
This article discusses the development of “heterodox” economics at universities in Germany since the 1970s. Based on Lakatos’ concept of scientific research programmes (SRP), the article introduces a classification of economics in order to clarify the understanding of variety within economics, especially in the case of Germany. Based on this classification and taking into account the different kinds of capital (economic, social and symbolic) available to heterodox economists, this article aims to show how heterodox economics in Germany has developed from the early 1970s until the present day. It will be shown that the heterodox schools expanded in the 1970s, but marginalisation took hold again by the 1980s and ultimately left German heterodox economics in a state of nearextinction today. From this, it follows that the history of heterodoxy in Germany is an unequal ‘battle of the paradigms’, and can only be told as the story of a failure.

Üniversite Yönetimi ve Heterodoks Ekonomi – Almanya’daki Ekonomik Güç Alanının İşaret Edilmesi

Özet

Bu makale, 1970’lerden beri Almanya üniversitelerindeki “heterodoks” ekonomi gelişimini tartışmaktadır. Makale, Lakatos’un bilimsel araştırma programları (SRP) kavramına dayanarak, özellikle Almanya’da iktisat içindeki çeşitlilik anlayışını netleştirmek için ekonomi sınıflandırması sunmaktadır. Bu makale, söz edilen sınıflandırmaya dayanarak ve heterodoks iktisatçılarca sunulan farklı sermayeyi (ekonomik, sosyal ve sembolik) dikkate alarak Almanya’daki heterodoks ekonominin 1970’lerin başından günümüze değin ne kadar gelişmiş olduğunu göstermeyi amaçlamaktadır. 1970’lerde heterodoks okulların genişlediği ancak, marjinalleşmenin 1980’lerde tekrar gündeme geldiği ve bugün heterodoks ekonomisini neredeyse yok olma eşiğine getirdiği gösterilmektedir. Bundan yola çıkarak, Almanya’daki heterodiksinin tarihi, eşit olmayan bir “paradigmalar savaşı”dır ve ancak başarısızlığın hikâyesi olarak anlatılabilir.
